Based in the Education service, you will carry out a range of administrative tasks supporting our Foundation Apprenticeship programme and the facilitation of our pupil tracking system. You will undertake SCQF Level 6 in Business and Administration.

The City of Edinburgh Council Apprenticeship Programme offers new entrants to the labour market the chance of paid employment combined with the opportunity to do training relevant to the occupational area. They include the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications that help kick-start a career without having to study full-time. New entrants can include school and college leavers, those with no previous work experience and/or vocational qualifications.
 
Environment:
 
The role is based in the Education service, and you will provide administrative support to two areas of our work. One of these focusses on the administration involved in running our Foundation Apprenticeship programme, and the other is supporting the facilitation of our pupil tracking system.
 
What might a day in this role look like?
 
You will be supervised to undertake the following tasks:
 
  • Production and handling of documents
  • Maintaining efficient electronic and manual filing systems
  • Providing a service to customers.
  • Using ICT to complete tasks
  • Other duties as required.
 
What will I learn?
 
You will undertake SCQF Level 6 in Business and Administration. You will be supervised at all times and expected to work towards becoming a competent Business Administrator within 2 years of commencing your Modern Apprenticeship.
 
What qualifications/skills are required?
 
  • At least 3 National 4s or 5s or equivalent in relevant business-related subject areas, eg English, Maths, Business Studies, ICT, Communications
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with office IT systems/software
  • Demonstrate an interest and enthusiasm in working in an office environment
  • Willingness to participate in a Modern Apprenticeship Programme
  • You must either have left secondary education in the past 3 years (including those about to leave this year), or currently on a City of Edinburgh Council employability training programme, or aged up to 29 with a disability or care experienced.
