You will contribute and experience commercial functional support in each of the business areas through a rotational placement spanning the full range and lifecycle of service delivery. You will study at the University of Strathclyde for completion of a BA (Hons) Business Management degree through a mixture of work-based learning, distance learning and day release.

What might a day in this role look like?
 
We need people who understand the importance of our customers and are ready to commit to working in the business, whilst also committing to a 4 year degree programme.  It is an opportunity to contribute and experience commercial functional support in each of the business areas through a rotational placement spanning the full range and lifecycle of service delivery.
 
During years 1 and 2 of the degree you will study core modules addressing Strategic thinking, supply change management, Finance, Ethical Governance, Business Analysis and Technology and Innovation. In addition learners will work closely with work-based assessors and mentors to enable them to apply their academic knowledge within their work context. You will draft and prepare routine contracts/ purchase orders, other agreements and internal approvals in line with standard and non-standard formats. You will adhere to a range of standard procedures and precedents to solve problems, which arise, with instruction direction and guidance available from others. You will establish integrity in pricing models in order to ensure accuracy and compliance with standard formats and liaise with customers/ suppliers to respond to routine queries regarding contract and supply chain issues.
 
Years 3 and 4 are designed to develop higher level cognitive skills and enable the continued integration of knowledge, professional competencies and transferable skills via two more extensive work-based Integrated Projects with real value to the employer and with possible choice of electives from across the fields of Business, Engineering and Computer Science. You will provide input to Integrated Project Teams project meetings to answer questions concerning contract/supply chain matters and acting as a focal point for cross function support and issues resolution. You will identify areas of potential risk/ opportunity e.g. sub-contract risk, liability and exchange rate exposure etc. and refer findings to senior members of the team.
 
What will I learn?
 
You will study at the University of Strathclyde for completion of a BA (Hons) Business Management degree through a mixture of work-based learning, distance learning and day release at university. On completion, you should have met the criteria for Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
 
At the end of the programme, you will work as a highly qualified member of our Commercial team in Customer Support Service Solutions.
 
What qualifications/skills are required?
 
You must have (as a minimum) the following qualifications:
 
  • 4 Higher Grades (or equivalent): BBBB
  • Mandatory: Mathematics and English
  • Preferred: a business related subject
  • National 5 A-C (or equivalent) in English
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly numerate
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work well both in a team and individually
  • Able to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines
  • Have strong IT skills particularly Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
