Environment: The Substance Use team is part of an integrated mental health and substance misuse service based at the Esk Centre in Musselburgh. It aims to provide a high quality, flexible and evidence-based treatment service to meet the needs of individuals with substance misuse problems. The service operates within the harm reduction model and works in collaboration with GPs, local authorities, non-statutory agencies, locality clinics and pharmacists, encompassing a shared care approach. What might a day in this role look like? The role will involve assisting the nursing team to carry out home visits to high risk/hard to reach individuals, supporting patients to attend appointments with other services and delivering harm reduction interventions to identified individuals. All relevant training will be provided, and regular supervision offered. There will also be scope to develop clinical skills including BBV testing, venepuncture and ECGs. You will be supported in your role whilst learning how to maintain high standards of patient care. What will I learn?
