Based in our office at Abbeyhill, this is an exciting opportunity to join our team. The role is varied and duties will include preparing and producing technical drawings using AutoCAD software, utilising a bespoke software system to create electrical certifications, and compiling forms/spreadsheets. You will undertake an HNC in Electrical Engineering on a day release basis at college.

The role will be office based and working as part of a small team at Abbeyhill.
 
What might a day in this role look like?
 
The role is varied and deadline driven, and duties will include:
 

• preparing and producing technical drawings using AutoCAD software
• completing O&M Manuals in accordance with CDM regulations
• undertaking lighting designs of common stairs, offices etc using Relux software
• utilising a bespoke software system to create electrical certifications
• compiling forms/spreadsheets on request of engineers/line managers
• printing documents and drawings.

 
What will I learn?
 

• HNC in Electrical Engineering (SCQF Level 7) on a day release basis at college
• Industry related training (MS Office / AutoCAD / Relux Lighting Design Software / Customer Service)
• Soft skills (communication, teamwork, problem solving, etc).

 
What qualifications/skills are required?
 

• Entry requirements for HNC course: NC Higher Electrical Engineering or an appropriate group of National Units. Direct entry to the course is also possible if you have a Higher in Mathematics and Physics or another science-based course
• Excellent computer literacy skills
• Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills
• Good interpersonal skills to enable you to work as part of a team and help others
• Attention to detail to ensure quality of work does not fall below expected levels of accuracy
• Self-motivated and pro-active
• Numeracy and keyboard skills
• Knowledge of MS Office applications
• Ability to prioritise work and manage several tasks concurrently whilst working on your own initiative and to meet strict deadlines
• Knowledge of drawing software (AutoCAD) and lighting design software (Relux) is advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided
• Age 16-24 preferred.
