We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Business Analysis team. The role will suit someone who’s keen to learn about technology and how it can support a business. You’ll work closely with internal business users to understand business processes, as well as pin-pointing problems and opportunities to improve how we work. You will work towards Information Technology and Telecommunications at SCQF Level 6.

Join our Information Systems team and you’ll immediately be part of an exciting, pioneering environment. You’ll work closely with internal business users to understand business processes, as well as pin-pointing problems and opportunities to improve how we work. You'll also work alongside our in-house development teams to design and create systems that help our business users do their best work for our clients.
 
What might a day in this role look like?
 
A typical day might involve:
 
  • collaborating with and supporting colleagues on projects and programmes to gain exposure to key Business Analyst skills and practices
  • shadowing and being mentored by experienced Business Analysts
  • learning how projects are run using Agile methodologies
  • attending and taking part in meetings to collaborate with colleagues
  • developing a general understanding of end-to-end project deliverables, including understanding the requirements of business users, supporting the development process and implementing IT solutions into the business
  • familiarising yourself with Business Analyst standards, goals, and principles
  • taking ownership of small/medium pieces of work under guidance of experienced Business Analysts including analysing business requirements, process mapping, creating user stories /AC, and any other analysis and associated documentation as required
  • seeking peer review and feedback for deliverables in order to improve, learning from feedback and incorporating learnings into future work
  • contributing toward an inclusive and welcoming working environment for colleagues.
 
What will I learn?
 
The programme will provide a combination of classroom based and on the job training to help you to achieve an SVQ in Information Technology and Telecommunications at SCQF Level 6. We’ll also teach you all the skills you need to start a career in IT project management.

What qualifications/skills are required?
 
  • National 5 or equivalent in Maths and English, as a minimum
  • A passion for technology is essential
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • The curiosity to learn and a willingness to ask questions
  • A customer focus
  • The communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical people
  • Good organisation and time management skills.
