Warehouse Operative - Modern Apprenticeship - 18359

Contract: Fixed Term - 12 months
Salary: £12,500 per annum
Employer: Steel stockholders and suppliers

Based in our warehouse, you will be trained to pick computer generated orders and maintain high levels of health and safety, working across different areas of the business to enhance your knowledge and skills whilst providing excellent customer service. You will work towards SCQF Level 5 in Warehousing, Storage and Distribution.

What might a day in this role look like?
 
You will work across different areas of the business to enhance your knowledge and skills, whilst providing excellent customer service and operating within a safe working environment, ensuring full legal compliance.

• Pick computer generated orders with repetitive handling/lifting of heavy and large items
• Ensure all documentation is correctly actioned for accuracy of stock
• Assist in the overall production and dispatch of customers’ orders
• Keep work area clean and tidy
• Be adaptable and flexible in approach to work to meet operational requirements
• Work across various departments to enhance knowledge and skills
• Maintain high levels of Health and Safety
• Maintain regular contact and ensuring any issues are communicated
• Adhere to all apprenticeship KPIs and fulfil all tasks and any/all briefs and assignments.

 
What will I learn?

• SCQF Level 5 in Warehousing, Storage and Distribution
• Working efficiently and effectively as part of a team
• Operating machinery
• Gain an understanding and experience of Environment, Health and Safety requirements
• Once trained, operating mobile equipment e.g. forklift truck, overhead crane, side loader.

 
What qualifications/skills are required?

• Minimum National 5 in English and ideally Maths
• Able to read written instructions and record accurately work carried out
• Organised and able to work on own initiative
• Ability to deliver good customer service
• IT skills: Word, Excel, Outlook
• Able to work in a flexible, results oriented, team environment
• A willingness to learn
• A clean driving licence or currently learning to drive, due to the location of the site.
