You will be employed full-time in a private nursery and we have a number of vacancies available across Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian. You will be involved in helping children with their learning, development and growth in a stimulating environment. ​You will undertake SVQ Social Services (Children & Young People) at SCQF Level 7.

What might a day in this role look like?
 
Your key duties will include:
 

• Being responsible for a group of children, and planning learning experiences which meet the individual needs and interests of the children in your care.
• Working closely within a team to provide a programme of activities which meet the curriculum.
• Working closely with parents/carers to deliver an individual learning and development journey for the children in your care.
• Supporting team members and engaging in developing an excellent working environment.
• Contributing to a wide range of learning activities and the achievement of learning outcomes.
• Assisting children with personal care tasks including toileting, dressing and feeding.
• Being flexible and providing help where needed, to include the cleaning of equipment and preparing of snacks/lunches.
• Promoting the high standards of the nursery at all times to parents, staff and visitors.
• Ensuring awareness of procedures for risk management, equalities, confidentiality, and behaviour management.

 
What will I learn?
 
You will work towards obtaining an SVQ in Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7.
 
What qualifications/skills are required?
 

• Due to the comprehensive nature of the training provided, no specific qualifications are necessary.
• 16-19 years old, or 20-29 with a disability/and or care experienced and would require extra support.
• Caring, nurturing and sensitive to the individual needs of young children and their families.
• Interact effectively and enthusiastically with children.
• Able to use your own initiative, be flexible and able to adapt to a fast-moving environment, while being a committed, valued member of a team.
• Passionate about Early Learning and Childcare, with an “anything is possible” attitude and looking to start a rewarding career.
